Member Achievements series 1

Here at The Redeye we strive to connect and lift each other up as much as we can, so today we want to acknowledge the fantastic achievements of some of our members!

First we have our very own Michael Bettencort.

Looking suave as always.

First question, How long have you been in your current position, and what lead you to it? -- (MB) I’ve been with Jetblue airways as a ramp/gate agent for 2 years. I started on this path because it gave me the ability to travel and discover new places.

What made you want to transition from x to y? -- (MB) It’s basically the same industry but I would get to fly for a living I still want to travel the world and meet people from different cultural backgrounds and with this new opportunity I can do it on a daily basis and take pictures and videos a long the way.

Do you remember what you wanted to be as a child, and are you still pursuing that goal today? -- (MB) I wanted to be an actor or involved in the movie industry, Im still pursuing it.

Truth be told, are you going to miss the redeye? -- (MB) If I get stationed for work in another place I would definitely come back as I have a Family nearby and Im so close to my beautiful island P.R 🇵🇷

And last but not least, If you had one piece of advice to give, what would it be? -- (MB) The advice I can give is to always have a positive attitude towards everything even for bad news, If you look at the positive in everything your perspective of life will change for the better, “we attract what we think”

Next up, we have our very own Brook Bassard!

"Look MA, no hands!"

Ok Brook, How long have you been in your current position, and what lead you to it?

I have always had a love for the aviation field and industry. When the opportunity arose, I couldn’t pass it up and I applied. My main goal in life was to always become a pilot. Becoming a flight attendant seemed like such a great stepping stone and a good direction for my future goals. It’s been a little over a year now that I have become a flight attendant and I can say it has been the best decision I have made.

And what made you want to transition from x to y?

This year as a flight attendant gave me everything I could’ve asked for. It brought me amazing friends, the ability to travel and see the world, but most of all it gave me the reassurance that my true dream is to be a pilot. Being a flight attendant is an amazing job but it made me realize I wouldn’t be happy as a flight attendant forever and now is the perfect time to achieve my goals.

Do you remember what you wanted to be as a child, and are you still pursuing that goal today?

I didn’t know from a young age I wanted to be a pilot. I always loved planes and I always loved the idea of traveling. It wasn’t until my early 20’s I decided I wanted to be a pilot. It’s taken some time to get things in order to peruse my goals but I'm finally at a place where I’m making it happen.

Truth be told, are you going to miss the redeye??

The redeye has been such an amazing gift to me. The community and the friendships I have made here will never be forgotten. I love this place and I love our community. If I have to be stationed back in jersey I will definitely live here again.

If you had one piece of advice to give, what would it be?

My piece of advice I would give anyone who wishes to peruse their dreams would be to never give up. Take chances and work hard until you have a solid way to obtain your goals, but most importantly have fun along the way of achieving your dreams!

And last, but surely not least we give you Mika Mikaelian!

Pretty sure if it has a steering system, he can drive it.
